Are you a big New Years Eve fan? Have you sorted an outfit out as yet? It is not just the ladies that need to look their best for the biggest party of the year.
Whether you like to see the New Year in looking your absolute best or prefer more of a casual vibe, or anywhere in between now is the perfect time to consider what you are going to wear. I have some suggestions that might give you some inspiration for your look on the night.
In order to give more of a couples style guide for New Years Eve I teamed up with Adelaide's own woman's style guru Sonia Styling (@soniastlying) who has some amazing style ideas to share. I recommend you and/or your partner go and check out her blog and give her a follow on Instagram.
The location for our shoot was the Adelaide Casino (@adelaidecasino) with its new vibrant bars, restaurants and station lane, is the perfect place to spend the night for New Years Eve.
If you are more of a casual style person but still want to look styled then go with some chinos paired with white sneakers, a playful unbuttoned shirt, sports blazer and contrast pocket square. If the weather is hot lose the blazer and swap the shirt for a playful short sleeve shirt instead.
This look goes really well with Sonia's dress which reminds me, guys you need to remember to compliment, not out shine your partner.
These shots are from Station Lane (@stationlaneadl) Adelaide’s newest laneway precinct with new eateries, a Pimm’s bar and the @jacobscreekwine Le Petit Rosé Bar with
FROSÉ!!. The whole space is licenced so you can buy a cold beer from any bar and find a spot to chill. Its the perfect spot for a pre dinner drink or two.
Semi formal means different things to different people. For me I like to work at the higher end of the spectrum by wearing a tie simply because hardly anyone does it anymore and it is the perfect accessory to bring a whole outfit together.
Navy and purple go well together and complement Sonia's navy and white striped dress. Brown shoes and a matching belt also link the look together. Important style tip - Always make sure your suit fits perfectly.
Photos taken @madamehanoi a perfect little French Vietmanese bistro on North Terrace, part of the Adelaide Casino complex. This little place has an amazing charm about it highlighted by the huge breathtaking mural painting on the wall and is perfect for a high quality meal on the run or drink at the bar this New Years Eve or anytime.

If you are like me you will want to look your very best to bring in the new year. My favourite formal look is a three piece suit combination. Lately I have been using a lot of contrast combos with a different coloured waistcoat for some extra flare.
Utilise a plain shirt for the backdrop and choose a tie that has a pattern, such as paisley or stripes with multiple colours ensuring one colour is close to that of the waistcoat colour. Then take other colours from the tie to colour link the square and lapel pin to the outfit for the ultimate coordinated look. The shoe colour should contrast the pant colour and be sympathetic to the other colours within the look.
These shots are from Sean's Kitchen (@seanskitchen) which is a fantastic restaurant part of the Adelaide Casino and the crown jewel of station lane in my view. The restaurant has an old station look and feel, lots of natural light, open kitchen and is quite conversation noisy during peak times, which gives it vibrancy and a feeling of community. The food is next level amazing and the perfect place to take someone special on big occasions like New Years Eve. Trust me this place will never disappoint.

Whether you prefer a casual, semi-formal or formal look there are so many options so play around with what feels right for you. In terms of a venue the Adelaide Casino, including Station Lane, Madame Hanoi and Sean's Kitchen are some of Adelaide's best spots to spend New Years Eve 2017.
